Crocodiles and Hippos

by - October 5 2010

Lake Chamo is a rift valley lake that is famous for its crocodiles and hippos. I rented a small boat (including driver) to take me to the place where the crocs like to hang out.

Some of the crocodiles were enormous. One of them looked like it was around ten feet long. Most of the time they lie motionless on the mud flats, but if you get too close to one then it will suddenly thrash around violently and swim off.

The hippos were harder to see. They spend most of their time underwater with just there eyes above the surface.
